Progression Workshop with Annie Chouinard

Annie Chouinard, the 7th Canadian woman to climb a 5.14, is coming back to Allez Up on January 19th and 20th to give another progression workshop. Please note this workshop is only given in french.

We asked Annie to talk to us about her workshops.

What is the progression workshop?

The goal of the workshop is the progression of the participants by teaching them how to successfully start and/or improve their practice, learn and/or improve their technique and movement, increase strength and endurance and initiate them to climbing-specific training.

Who is the workshop for?

The workshop is designed for beginner to intermediate level climbers (5.7 to 5.11) who top rope and/or lead.

What is the length and structure of the workshop?

The workshop takes place over two days, with each session lasting 2h30. The structure of the workshop is as follows:

Day 1 :

- Organizing a climbing session

- Demonstration of a warm up routine

- Different climbing holds

- Climbing movement

- Demonstration of techniques (flagging, side steps, heel hooks, etc) on specifically prepared boulders

- Movement practice and individual feedback

- 1st part of a four week strength training program

Day 2 :

- 25 minute theory on climbing progression

- Visualization, mental preparation, route reading

- Strategies for free climbing routes (how to improve your endurance and power endurance, how to project)

- 2nd part of a four week strength training program 

- Demonstration of a stretching routine

The workshops are only given in french. 

The cost of the workshop is $60 + tax (+ gym access)
