CLIMBING COMP & GAMES

Two years! That's how long it took us to plan and open two new climbing gyms in Montreal. We've met lots of new people, the community has grown considerably, and now it's time to say thank you and celebrate the holidays together. So what better way to do it than with DECEMBERFEST!

If you've never participated or attended, here's what you need to know: The Decemberfest is a friendly climbing competition with world-class decorum. Big, but no pressure. Add on top of that a ton of prizes to be won through crazy games, and it gives you a good idea of what to expect.

*Please note: Accompanying persons, coaches and fans are also welcome throughout the day, including the finals. They will have free access to the gym and can come and support their favorite competitors!

ROUTE CLIMBING COMP FOR ALL CLIMBERS

Once again this year, the Decemberfest will bring together climbers of all levels in 3 categories:

CITIZEN: (5.7 to 5.11 / top rope) for climbers who want to compete for fun without pressure. 20 routes, in scramble format - the best 5 routes will count towards the final score.

ADVANCED: (5.11 to 5.12+ / lead) for climbers who want to make it a little spicy. 2 qualifying routes - flash-format with a pre-established order - the top 6 will qualify for the final.

OPEN: (5.12 + and + / lead) for climbers whose first rodeo is not their first. 2 qualifying routes - flash-format with a pre-established order - the top 6 will qualify for the final.

Everything will be in the festive spirit, with the gym entirely reset in Christmas colors.

*PLEASE NOTE: to take part in the competition, you must be accredited with Allez UP in Top Rope (citizen only) or Lead.  There will be no accreditation on the day of the event, so make sure you have done your test in advance

FINALS

The finalists (6 women and 6 men) in the Advanced and Open categories with the best results in the qualifying rounds will face off on the ultimate route.

The atmosphere will be great, with a crowd of spectators + a live d-setj + the gym plunged into darkness with only the spotlight on the climbers!

Podium finishers in all 3 categories will win prizes from our partners.

FUN & GIFTS

Decemberfest is all about bringing people together. And so that everyone can enjoy the moment and receive gifts, we've spiced up the competition with some climbing games!

Some of you will remember the classics : the Milk Crate Tower or the Gri-gri Race! The good news is that they'll be there, but we've also got some fun and challenging new ones in store for you.

FAQ

WHEN WILL THE RUNNING ORDER BE AVAILABLE?

On December 14th, the running order will be available to all open and advanced climbers via our website and email.

WHAT IS THE CITIZEN FORMAT?

It's a scramble of 20 routes, flash format.  There is no order to complete the routes, but they will be numbered in order of difficulty.  You'll have 2.5 hours to complete 5 routes.  Your 5 best results will be counted. Citizen comp is Top Rope only. Each route will be separated into 3 zones to refine the scores in case of a tie.

CAN I TRY ROUTE MORE THAN ONCE?

Yes, but before giving a 2nd try on a route, no participant must be waiting to give his/her first try. All participants who have not made the first attempt have priority to climb the route.

DOES MY 2ND TRY COUNT IN MY TOTAL?

No, only your 1st attempt will be counted on your scorecard.

CAN I STAY ALL DAY?

No, sorry. To give everyone registered a chance to climb, you'll need to keep to the schedule you chose when you registered.

CITIZEN CLASSIFICATION

The routes are the same for all categories: Men and Women. However, there will be a podium and prizes for each gender.

JUNIOR RANKING AND CATEGORIES

There will be a junior ranking even if the competition is not sanctioned. However, there will be no podium or prizes for these classification.

An appropriate box will be filled in on the participant's scorecard

TOP ROPE OR LEAD?

The open and advanced formats will be lead only, and the recreational format will be top rope only.
