COACH - YOUTH RECREATIONAL AND ADVANCED GROUPS

Allez Up is looking to expand its team. We are therefore now accepting applications for a part time position as a youth coach. Allez Up is looking for a highly motivated person who wants to share climbing experiences with kids and youth through the Allez Up programs.

Allez Up is committed to its community to provide high quality discovery and development programs for youth, through which coaches will introduce our sport to a new generation of climbers.

As such, we are looking for a person with outstanding teaching and communication skills. The coach is responsible for supervising a group, and follows their growth throughout the whole season. They use and adapt the provided course plans to create an appropriate and interesting experience for their group.

This position reports to the head coach and the assistant head coach. They work together to establish and meet the goals of the program.

  • Recreational, advanced, or competitive group coach
  • Promote a positive experience for athletes and create a relationship with them
  • Use and adapt course plans to fit with group needs
  • Responsible for communication with parents in person, by phone, or by email in the case of behavioral concerns.
  • Complete progress reports and provide feedback on athletes development at the end of each season
  • Ensure that participants follows all of the security procedures and that their actions create a safe environment for participants, clients, and employees

REQUIRED:

  • be a passionate climber, eager to share their enthusiasm for climbing with young students.
  • have a friendly personality and an open-minded attitude.
  • have a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • have experience managing groups.
  • have been climbing for at least 1 year and be passionate about the sport.
  • have solid teaching experience (experience in other climbing gyms, fitness, and/or youth programs is preferred).
  • be able to work independently.
  • be able to easily solve problems and handle difficult situations with sound judgment.
  • have strong observational skills and be able to manage risks.
  • be eager to engage with and help strengthen the local climbing community.
  • be fluent in spoken French and English. Coaches must regularly communicate in English to convey safety rules.

 

ASSETS:

  • have experience and skills in bouldering, sport climbing, and speed climbing.
  • be familiar with Rock Gym Pro software.
  • hold current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
  • be a certified personal trainer.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • be available evenings and weekends.
  • be confident and comfortable working in a high-traffic environment.
  • be able to stand and walk continuously for extended periods of time.
  • be able to repeatedly lift, push, pull, and carry more than 50 lbs.
  • be able to climb, crouch, crawl, balance, and kneel.
