MILE END SEND

MILE END SEND

It's already the second spring for our Mile End gym - and while the natural boulders are drying in the sun, we've got something big in store for you! It's true that there have been events, parties and festivals in Mile End before, but never a climbing comp, so...

We're thrilled to announce the MILE END SEND on May 11th at 5600 de Gaspé! Whether you're a climber or a spectator, we look forward to welcoming you to celebrate sends!

A BOULDERING COMP FOR ALL

This comp adopts a Scramble format focusing on fun and accessibility for all levels, grouped into 2 categories:

RECREATIONAL: for beginners and intermediate climbers - yellow to purple / red (V0 to V6)

OPEN: for expert climbers - red to white (V6 and +)

The Scramble consists of 30 problems to be climbed, from the "easiest" (boulder #1) increasing in difficulty, to the "hardest" (boulder #30). With no iso, no time limit and no limit on attempts - everyone can go at their own pace.

2 bonus boulders will be set on the Kilter Board and the Moon Board, giving you the chance to enter a raffle to win a LEMUR hangboard (these boulders do not count toward the Scramble).

QUALIFICATIONS FOR FINALS

The top 12 competitors (6 Women / 6 Men) in the OPEN category will advance to the finals. The ranking will be determined by the most Tops achieved with the fewest attempts.

The final will take the form of a Rush and will take place as follows: 4 groups of 3 climbers (2x3 Women / 2x3 Men), 4 boulders, 6 minutes per boulder - as for the qualifiers, the climbers will have to achieve the most sends with the fewest attempts to try and win 1st place and a part of the prize purse of 3000$.

The Rush format guarantees an action-packed final, where every attempt is crucial and intensity is pushed to the max.

We recommend that you arrive between 30 and 60 minutes before the start of your heat. You'll have the chance to finalize your registration, collect your scorecard and start your warm-up on the floor.

Each problem can give 3 possible scores on your scorecard:

  • If you flash the boulder, you get the highest point value for that problem.
  • If you top on your second try, you lose 5 points on the flash.
  • A send on your third try or more, you lose 9 points on the flash.

Your best 6 problems will count towards your final score.

The Women's and Men's podiums in the OPEN category will be rewarded with a purse:

  • 1st: 1,000$ cad
  • 2nd: 300$ cad
  • 3rd: 200$ cad

Podium finishers in the other categories will receive material prizes.
