HEADSETTER

Allez Up is looking to expand its team of route setters. We are therefore now accepting applications for the position of full-time Headsetter. Allez Up is looking for highly motivated, dynamic and creative people to lead the route setting team.

Allez Up is committed to its community to provide high quality climbing facilities and we firmly believe that the team that occupies and animates the premises is an essential and essential component to the success of this company. Setters are responsible for creating and maintaining the excellence of the core product of Allez Up.

As such, we are looking for a Headsetter who is passionate about creating movement and enthusiastic about creating quality routes and blocks. Climbing at Allez Up must be fluid, universally appreciated and adapted to the needs of our members and our guests. The Headsetter reports directly to the General Manager and is responsible for managing the workflow, efficiency and productivity of his team.

  • Manage the route-setting team
  • Plan weekly bouldering and route resets
  • Create thoughtful and varied movement experiences while respecting Allez Up's setting standards
  • Ensure a variety and diversity of movements throughout the facility
  • Work collaboratively with the team, setting routes/problems within the limits of your climbing ability
  • Climb and test routes/problems while providing clear and constructive feedback to peers
  • Modify routes/problems as needed based on team feedback
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace at all times
  • Enforce safety standards for working at height
  • Manage the inventory of climbing holds and route-setting equipment
  • Plan annual climbing hold purchases
  • Maintain the facilities and inspect safety equipment on the walls
  • Effectively manage the team's time and meet established daily quotas
  • Mentor new and existing route setters, helping them develop positively and in alignment with Allez Up's core values
  • Promote a positive customer experience
  • Build relationships with members and guests

REQUIRED

  • Excellent communicator

  • Experience in a similar or relevant field
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
  • Strong passion for climbing
  • Understanding of climbing movement up to 5.13 and V9
  • Fluency in spoken and written French
  • Fluency in spoken English: this position requires the employee to communicate with counterparts in other Canadian provinces and to give or receive training in other Canadian provinces or the United States.

 

ASSETS

  • Skills in bouldering, sport climbing, and traditional climbing
  • Rope work and knowledge of safety procedures
  • Experience setting routes and boulders in a commercial climbing gym
  • Understanding of climbing competitions
  • Forklift and aerial lift certification

 

ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Daytime availability
  • Frequently perform work at height using climbing equipment, rigging, and/or ladders
  • Frequently climb up and down stairs as part of the job
  • Stand and walk continuously for extended periods of time
  • Ability to repeatedly lift, push, pull, and carry more than 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb, pull, crouch, crawl, balance, and kneel
  • Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment when performing applicable tasks
